The Claw boat anchor is one of the most popular anchors in the world due to its impeccable holding power and excellent performance in nearly all sea bottoms. Best of all, the claw boat anchor is one of the easiest anchors to set. If you have ever had a problem setting your anchor in the past, you’ll be impressed with how effortlessly the claw sets nearly every time!

North Star's Claw anchor is constructed of high tensile, hot dipped galvanized steel and has been trusted by boaters for years. It shares all of the features associated with the original Bruce/Claw anchor at a fraction of the price.

Absolute Roll Stability
Every anchor has an upright orientation at which maximum holding power is achieved. Changes of wind or tide cause the angle of pull to change and to roll the anchor onto its side. A good anchor resets itself quickly to achieve upright orientation. This style anchor rolls upright, irrespective or initial drop attitude, within 2 shank lengths after engaging the sea bed and, at any cable angle up to 30 degrees.

Full Veering Capability
The curved wingtips are configured so that cable-pull automatically rolls the anchor to its optimum upright orientation: whether for initial setting or for resetting. This capability is important in minimizing dragging when wind or tide change. Instead of breaking out, the anchor can remain imbedded as it veers. The anchor banks in the sea bed and maintains high holding power, even through 360 degrees.

Short-Scope Holding Power

The anchor will bury into the sea bed at cable angles of up to 30 degreeswhere most other anchors require 10 degrees-15 degrees. In crowded anchorages or in deep water, this distinction means more than a peaceful night: it can become a yacht or a life-saver. The reason for the anchor's better performance with short scope is in its design: the center of the fluke area is located much closer to the forward end of the fluke than is possible in other anchor designs.

Among Rocks or Coral
This anchor works well for bottom conditions where many anchors are ill-suited. Among the worst conditions are rocks and coral. There, the anchor's three strong points let this anchor grab as easily as the Fisherman-type anchor. And, because there are no flimsy or movable parts, there's less risk of bending or jamming.

Easy to Recover and Stow

Despite the superior burying and holding power, the anchor is easily broken out for hauling. The short broad single fluke gives rise to small shear moments in the sea bed when the anchor is rotated upward during hauling. The anchor is very compact. Because of its inherent rolls stability, it requires no stock and is thus narrower. It has no moving parts to secure and stows in bow roller or locker.
